Sirius can't help but cringe a little when Kieren says Lily's name. However much they've danced around the topic and even if it's James who's been the first here to allude to her, somehow bringing up her name is a harsh reminder of, not only her absence, but everything that comes with it. All that James has lost here, all that Sirius has lost even if at his own hands.
He isn't surprised to see a similar expression on James's face, though the sight of it makes the ball of guilt inside his gut flare brighter.
"Still is, I'd reckon," he says, his voice a bit rough as James hurriedly picks up the few remaining cards. "Even if-- I mean, you showed up here out of the blue, didn't you? Suppose that means she could as well." He forces his tone into one more jovial, more teasing. He's always hated this feeling, hated more that look on James's face and so he tries to push it away, to replace it with amusement or even irritation. "Probably thwap you upside the head as soon as she laid eyes on you, too. I'll admit, I'm looking forward to that. That always was my favourite part of your courtship."
